Zapier is an incredibly powerful app automation platform that allows you to create customized workflows – otherwise known as “Zaps.” You can integrate with over 2,000 popular apps to watch for new or updated data, create automated outreach, find existing data, or create and update data, all without the need for developers.
To learn more about how Zapier works and how to get started integrating your apps and creating your first “zaps” please refer to the Getting Started guide at zapier.com or watch this brief tutorial:
Before you get started, Zapier uses some in-house terminology you will want to familiarize yourself with to make the Zapier integration flow easier to build.
Zap: A “Zap” is an automated workflow you can use in between major platforms like websites, CRMs, or social media pages. A Zap includes a trigger, an action, and a task.
Trigger: A "trigger" is an event that needs to happen in order for the Zap to start.
Action: An "action" is an event that is completed by the automated Zap integration.
Task: Each event that Zapier is completing for you while you focus on more important things is a "task."
Note: The current EZ Texting integration is version 1.0 of a more robust integration EZ Texting is rolling out with Zapier over the coming weeks. This iteration only allows you to create a Zap (workflow) that ends with EZ Texting sending a text message as the "Action" in the chain. In upcoming versions you will be able to use EZ Texting as a trigger in your workflow.

How to Add EZ Texting to a Zapier Workflow
Go to zapier.com. Sign in to zapier.com. If you don't have a Zapier account you will need to sign up for one. (Zapier is free for anyone doing less up to 100 "tasks" per month. The free level is also limited to one-action Zaps", i.e. a trigger and an action. Zapier is far more robust, but you need a premium account to unlock those features.)
Before creating your workflow you will need to know the desired outcome of your Zap.
If you need help figuring out your workflow, or just want to see what's possible, please refer to Zapier's Integrations Workflow page that will allow you to test your ideas:
The easiest way to get started is to click the "plus" icon in the upper left corner next to the Zapier logo to create a Zap.
(You can also create a zap by going to the "Search for an app" field under "Create your own workflow" in the middle of the page, typing "EZ Texting" into the left-hand "Connect this app..." field, and typing in the right-hand field the name of the app you would like to connect with EZ Texting to create a zap.)
On this page you can name and create your Zap.
Give your Zap a name by clicking "Name your zap" in the upper left-hand corner.
Next, in the field beneath "Choose App & Event," type the name of the app you would like to connect to EZ Texting or choose from the provided list of popular apps.
Choose the app in the results.
Next, use the "Choose Trigger Event" drop down menu to choose a trigger event. Each app has a number of pre-determined trigger events that you can choose from (or you can create your own workflow).
Now, choose EZ Texting.
Zapier may open a pop-up window (see below) as they authenticate your EZ Texting login. If you are not signed in to EZ Texting then Zapier will open a pop-up and ask you to sign in. (If you have not signed up for EZ Texting yet, the pop-up will also give you the opportunity to do that at this time.)
Choose the action you would like EZ Texting to take from the dropdown menu and complete your Zap!
Note: This is version 1 of a more robust Zapier integration we will be rolling out over the coming weeks. In version 1 you can only choose one of three trigger events for EZ Texting to perform:
1. Send a text message from EZ Texting
2. Create a contact in EZ Texting
3. Create a group in EZ Texting
If you are creating a new contact or group you will now have the option to customize your fields before completing the Zap.
Once you've finished customizing the fields click Continue and finish off your Zap!
And don't forget to test!
