Keyword Setting Components:
- Connect to Groups - automate what contact list they are added to
- Create Your Auto Reply Message - this is the response message your contacts will receive
- Reply Settings - extended optional reply settings
- Advanced Options - additional settings for API or forwarding keyword messages to your email
If you don't yet have a keyword, learn how to add one to your account.
Please note: If you were assigned a toll-free long code number instead of a short code number during sign up, the same settings will apply to the long code number as it would apply to a short code number. Textable numbers purchased after sign up will not have the same functionality. Learn more.
To edit your keyword, go to Keywords & Numbers on the left panel and click directly on the keyword you wish to edit. After clicking on the keyword, you will see the settings page.
Click the Edit button to the right to edit a certain part of your keyword settings.
Connect To Groups
This step is important because it allows your contacts to automatically be added to a contact list when they opt in so you won't have to do any extra work! When someone texts in a keyword connected to a specific group, you can later text that entire group at once with text updates.
Create Your Auto Reply Message
An auto-reply must be sent every time someone texts in a keyword. Click into the Auto Reply box to create your own text list message that you want your contacts to receive. You can incorporate a link to a web page or attach an image if you have MMS capabilities on your account.

After you have connected your keyword to a group and created your auto-reply message, you can click Save and skip the following steps if you don't wish to automate your keyword any further. Or check out how to edit and use Sub Keywords.
These settings are rarely used but may be helpful depending on what you are trying to accomplish. To use them, click Set up.
Alternate Reply Message - If this option is enabled, it is intended to let contacts know that they have already opted in. Please note that if this option is enabled, a contact will not be able to rejoin or be re-added to a drip campaign for example.
Double Opt-In Confirmation Message - If this is enabled, contacts will receive another message asking them to confirm if they would like to join your text list. If they respond with "y" or "yes", then they will be added and also receive another message confirming this action.
If you wish to use these options, don't forget to Save!
To delete these options, click Set up and select the blue "Delete" button.
Here are some helpful options to help automate keyword opt ins and keep track of them outside of using the EZ Texting account. Click Set up to enable each of these options.
Forward Opt Ins Via Email - Get notified via email if your contacts have opted into your account with your keyword.
Configure API For Replies - if you have a developer or are a developer, you can connect your keyword to your API or external system. For API help, check out https://www.eztexting.com/developers
Configure Send From Phone - When this is enabled, you can send texts to a group directly from your phone!
1. Choose the group you would like to message from your phone
2. Select up to three phone numbers that will have this capability
After this is configured, you can use your enabled phone to text the keyword to the short code number on your account along with the message you want to share with that group. The keyword and the message must be included in the text to trigger this feature and it must be sent to the short code number on the account.
Tip: hold CTRL + click to select more than one group at once
